They knew that what was going down was trouble, and they wanted to keep out of it. Saying more than that is pure speculation. Then the violence happens suddenly, and we don't see the reaction to that, which has not had time to happen when the video ends. Apparently one girl raised some level of fuss after that, and got arrested also.
