Lots of stuff is and is not popular with Americans. Theism and religion are both very popular with Americans. That's pretty much all I need to remind me of how fucked-up Americans can be. But there are so many other things, like our fondness for drunk driving. Our geopolitical pompous arrogance. We could go on for pages, eh? The graphic image was too big, so I posted the link to the page. The comparison on the bottom pretty much tells the whole story. We're 20th in the world in per capita dollars spent on education and 1st in per capita dollars spent on incarceration.

So for the sake of argument, let's assume that the subject statement is legit. Who cares what most Americans think? Most Americans are idiots.
