Yup! I know. Just goes to show that fear mongering works.

Fear mongering did cause a lot of gun control.

The point is that gun control is on the way out & the old white Dems (Hillary) who keep pushing the issue are out of touch with average Americans.

Also, a poll was conducted which makes it a current event.

As a gun owner, I'm just not getting it.

Yeah, well there's this:

But there may be another factor behind this shift: Americans’ changing perceptions about crime. Over the past 25 years or so, there has been a divergence between American perceptions about crime and actual crime rates. And those who worried about crime had favored stricter gun control; now, they tend to desire keeping the laws as they are or loosening gun control. In short, we are at a moment when most Americans believe crime rates are rising and when most believe gun ownership – not gun control – makes people safer.

<<snip>>

In the new century, however, there’s been a disconnect. A majority of Americans (63%) said in a Gallup survey last year that crime was on the rise, despite crime statistics holding near 20-year lows.
See? Fear mongering.

Most Americans oppose gun control because of all the gun related and other violence going on out there. So, obviously what we need is less restriction and greater access to evermore deadly weapons. This dovetails nicely with their belief that the government is too big and too dangerous, so obviously what we need to address that is a blank check for the military and militarized, less restricted law enforcement.

There, does that clear things up for you?

Dave
