I'd be fine with that but don't see it as likely.

it's nap time!
I hate having to nap everyday, generally twice.
But, then again, overall things are great, just wonderful.
I listen to my music from dawn till dusk and enjoy some light banter with cyber friends.
On the weekends I eat like a king with most the pageantry. In between I pick up the phone and make a few dollars for more music! Yeah, things are good.

Come on John an opposing view or opinion, outside of the sciences is not inherently your domain.
You know I respect you, Fin, Rob... way smart folks. I love Dave, the man is a genius of expression. You are all different than I which is why I enjoy you all so. I don't have the book knowledge you guys have and my life experiences are different but I have never been at a loss to out think anybody. Plus, like you (plural) I thirst for knowledge. Probably why my nickname as an adult has been The Professor. I have semi regularly had people accuse me of being clairvoyant because I have been so eerily insightful. I go for a haircut people what to hear my opinion ... blah blah blah... but it's true
With that qualifier I'll say, you need to open your closed minds.
1) The sky is not falling. It's nothing but a passing summer storm.
2) It's not inherently bad that a candidate entertains as he campaigns. His goal is to gather votes and people are more likely to vote for who they like and you says that they will provide their wants. Every politician does this. 3) I have no issue with those that will not accept a politician that will not conform to their want of what a politician is. That is a large part of the knee jerk rejection of many of the more cerebral. But then they become what they dislike, zealots of opposition.
4) No acceptable, reasoned case has been made for anyone to reject Trump on hysteria... it is what you are advocating. In the past my open mind has been won over by you. Posts as I am receiving from you now are emotional, nothing I can recalculate on. What was it, gay marriage you changed my mind ? Yes, I am sure it was you who made a reasoned case that I could accept.
5) To your questions, am I oblivious? Doubt it. Could be. You may be. Hence the banter. I know I am not the ultimate prognosticator. With all respect, I don't think you are either.
6) Would I like to see him as President? I don't know. I do know that I am not scared of that possibility. I do know I don't think Hillary or Bernie are electable and have said that since summer. I do know Rafael the Canadian is much more scary a proposition than is Trump. no one speaks to this. It's actually frustrating that no one cares. I do know Rubio is not ready... Kasich? Maybe.
If you want to make a case for what to you is the obvious peril of Trump, I'll intently and open mindedly consider it. As of now, I see the anti Trump as hysteria.

A lot of words, just to say one obvious fact (you aren't persuaded), and to do a little name-calling (those who think different are zealots suffering from hysteria.)
You may be a very insightful fellow, but I'm not persuaded.
Try actual argument, that is, name some facts and show your logic with them. I did that a little in #2132, this topic, a post you have chosen to ignore....

They're all horrible but, in order to rate them, I'd have to put them in pairs. The worst pair would be Trump and Cruz. Then Kasich and Rubio. Which within those two would pairs be the worst isn't worth discussing.

OK dumpling, you finally got my attention. What is it you want me to say to this?
Quote:
Reasoning:
1. Trump really wants to be President.
2. With his very high negatives, among educated whites and just about all non-whites, he is extremely unlikely to win a general election under normal conditions.
3. This might change if political violence increased rage and fear throughout the populace to new heights, while intimidating his opposition.
4. His actions show a gradual pattern of moves toward such conditions.
We might discuss any of these points you feel are supported too much by 'unreasoned emotion.'

Yeah, and? so? WTF is your point? What is your logic to post so insightful? What fact did you uncover to discern this wisdom
We'll start here.

or maybe he is just course
I though he was a good egg previous but I don't know him well
But, I don't want to disappoint the flyspeck! (I have been dying to use this word, flyspeck. it's just got a ring)
Look what he demands of me after thinking his superficial, untethered post scholarly. Kind of mind blowing. and he pissed me off...
maybe I am over reacting
.................I might just take the rest of the day off
One thing is for sure, message boards are no substitute for personally interacting. Often intent is received in err.
