Yeah, but Wemple sure didn't get it.

Gellar certainly has a right to speak her mind about whatever she chooses. But in my view she has abused the fundamental right of free speech. The important aspect of free speech is the ability to challenge those in power. She used it to promote her particular brand of hate. What she did was closer to shouting fire in a crowded theater - and the consequences were as severe. That doesn't necessarily mean that she should be subject to a governmental sanction because of what she did, but she most certainly is fair game for receiving the full force of free expression right back at her.

Of course, only those who agree with her are truly entitled to an opinion.

I think that she has forgotten that the same amendment that protects free speech also protects the free exercise of religion.

What really pisses me off is that her vicious stunt has placed her squarely in the spotlight she craves.

I wonder if Jenn Rubin is sticking up for her?
