I don't know what country you live in, honestly, but I live in the US and we have a constitution that protects, literally, "misinformation" and "disinformation", and even lying. It's because it's impossible to trust anyone to enforce it in an unbiased way. The soviets made a mockery out of the concept.
Of course, the constitution restrains the government, not private enterprises.

As for disinformation, Dezinformatsiya has long been a feature of Soviet/Russian propaganda and they coined the term in the 1920's. And nowadays, we have people like Donald Trump, Tucker Carlson, Elon Musk, and networks like Fox News, NewsMax and OANN spewing it regularly.
