A iron-sighted, higher recoil, clumsy loading ten-pound rifle with an 8 round clip (and an audible "ping" when you need to stop to reload) with a normal 100 round load-out vs. an optically-sighted, low recoil 7 pound rifle (that is a foot shorter than a Garand) with removable 30 round magazines and a 210 round load-out?
The armorers of the US Army have disagreed with your assessment for nearly 60 years. I understand your nostalgia for a Garand, but the M4 or M16 are far better battle implements.
