I know this argument is an article of faith amongst our lefty-er than thou democrats
but Sen. Sanders was never subjected the full court press of the media and the frightwing moles embedded within them. Bernie has never had to 'splain what he meant when he opined that lack of sex caused cancer in women and other various papers he wrote for the alt-left press back in the '70s. He also never released his taxes other than one year's barebones cover page, as is customary for presidential candidates and which he and his wife publically promised to do.
It requires some fairly magical thinking to believe that his poll numbers wouldn't have taken a nose dive if he won the nomination and the press started digging into the somewhat salacious tidbits in his history.
However, Bernie did the stand up thing yesterday during the rollcall votes. He proved he is mensch par excellance as far as I'm concerned when he moved for a suspension of the rules and threw all of his delegates to our nominee.
Like it or not, most voters aren't ready for one of us old tie dyed hippie freaks from the Age of Aquarius to be the commander in chief.
Suck is life.
