President-elect Donald Trump sided with Elon Musk in his opposition to House Speaker Mike Johnson's bill to temporarily fund the government as Congress scrambles to pass a spending bill with only two days before the deadline to avoid a shutdown.

Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance criticized the bill in a statement posted to Vance's X (formerly Twitter) account Wednesday afternoon.

"Republicans must GET SMART and TOUGH. If Democrats threaten to shut down the government unless we give them everything they want, then CALL THEIR BLUFF. It is Schumer and Biden who are holding up aid to our farmers and disaster relief," they wrote.
