Look at the bright side Bob, a Speaker may not be elected until March.
Or the Dems could break tradition and vote for a Speaker that the Repubs do not want.

The Dems should support a 'moderate Republican' for speaker. Someone who's attractive enough to get bipartisan support. This isn't a move to make right away, but it might work once even the R's are sick of thrashing around without a winner.

There are enough wingnuts/MAGAt's to prevent that from being successful.

Exactly. If word gets out that the Democrats will support a moderate candidate for Speaker, the wingnuts will go out of their way to nominate flame throwers, while everyone knows Gym covets the job like McCarthy did.

Are there? It would only take a few Republicans to vote with the Democrats, and you have a majority. And the more jump on, the safer they all are. Safety in numbers. We could call it a 'government of national unity.' Just had a big bipartisan vote for the CR bill. Build on this succcess!

I'm not saying I wouldn't like it, but I just don't see it happening. They'd rather have another 15-vote shit show than put a moderate as Speaker. For example, they're talking Jim Jordan for the next speaker, which may not be a bad thing for Democrats. He's so dishonest and incompetent that most of his initiatives will be DOA.

That will do it, three out of control morons running our government; Musk, Trusk and Jordan.
