I was a 16 year old high school sophmore here when that happened, those killings just never did sit right with me.

Of course....it did not sit well with most of us either. The University is a part of my life however, and I have really great memories...

My father will be 80 in Feb. He lied and joined up in '50 at 16 years old. Headed over to Korea as a tank commander in the USMC.

One of my brothers friends was a Kent police officer when that happened. He witnessed the entire incident. The protesters were unruly and tossing objects towards the guardsmen. They were ordered to disperse. However, he said he never heard the order to fire upon them....it just "started". First one shot, then a couple seconds later, more shots and tear gas. Bear in mind, some of the students killed and injured had NOTHING to do with the protest.

After it was all over he overheard guardsmen and police officers joking about "shooting fish in a barrel" and making other derogatory comments about "hippies", "commies" and so on.

He turned in his badge and went home.

Yep. The whole thing was so obviously staged it was ridiculous.

I was there in 1984 in Johnson...that part of campus is beautiful...nothing creepy about it.
My brother John lives right next door to the university.....literally. It is a beautiful place.
