Wow, I'm starting to feel a bit of a bond with the Hillbilly.

I was 12 when we moved from a nice 3 story Victorian in Oregon to 20 bare acres in between Colville, WA and the Canadian Border. Lived in a 69 GMC delivery van that my step-dad had converted into a mini motor-home while we built our plywood shack that I lived in until I left home. We got electric pretty quick, but did haul water from the creek for bathing. Our tub was a big galvanized watering trough, with a 4 burner propane setup under it ripped out of an old propane stove. We cooked with an old Monarch wood cook stove. Between that, and the barrel stove in the living room we went through a lot of firewood. My bed was a slab of plywood with a sleeping bag. At least I had my own room. I remember the day that we finally took the 12V water pump out of the GMC and used it to pump water from a Rubbermaid garbage can on the porch into two 55 gallon drums in the attic so we could actually have gravity feed water in the house. I thought I was in heaven. Only had to carry water from the spring and dump it in the garbage can once a week after that.

Sounds like you were a victim of the 'back to nature' craze in the '70's, Marc.

When I was 16 I lived with my older bro and his wife. One winter of heating that old house with firewood we cut from the surrounding five acres was enough for me. Had an old potbelly stove in my bedroom that wouldn't keep me warm the whole night.

It was kind of a "back to nature, lets get this friggin' kid out of the city before he has any more encounters with the law" kind of thing. I misplaced my halo at a pretty young age.

Gowdy's a pretty-boy showboat. Unfortunately, it was his party that shut down the monuments. This whole schtick played out with Palin and Cruz at the WWII Memorial and they looked like opportunistic fools. Gowdy does too.

The full straight answer is that the dick with the microphone continued to make a false equivalency and was upset when the witness did not buy into his false equivalency. There were no protesters arrested during the occupy event nor were there any veterans arrested when they sought access to the monuments. For that matter, the park service accommodated the folks who wanted to come to D.C. to make a show of their open carry of firearms a few years back. I'm sure the dick with the microphone would not want for the park ranger to point that out to him.

Regards,

D-Ray

I'm confused about the ending of that vid. Jarvis said people were allowed to protest in a group of no more than 24 ( may have been 25? ), but during the occupy event lots more than that came out of the woodwork and many set-up camp. So I didn't understand it, thats where his time ran out.
