I was just thinking of how it got this far. My local school here seem to have intervention by the staff and teachers well in hand. Or so I hope to say the least!
Bullies were never a problem with my son's being they went to classes weekly and were both Black belts in Karate and Aikido. Didn't want them to grow up unprepared, I was a military brat and moved way to much and had to learn street fighting at an early age. Plus having younger siblings to protect I learned the proper use of the old one two through experience.

When I brought this to the attention of the Vice. Principle in charge of the Safeties, he said for me to send them to their councilors, and under no conditions was I supposed to allow them to stay in those areas ?
Everyone in our school had problems with bullies, even the bullies had groups of other bullies beating on them. It seemed as though we were a pack of wild dogs fighting for the control of the pack. It's truly a wonder that no one snapped and killed anyone there.
Most teachers only want a 9 - 5 job, and not to become involved in anything other than their classes.
I remember on day I set up a brand new 35 mm sound projector in a classroom, when I came out of the classroom three fellows told me to leave the door open, or. Knowing that I was responsible for that brand new equipment, I locked the door behind me. The three attacked me to get the keys, and I did my best to defend myself, and injured one of them badly enough for him to need to go to the hospital. I ended up in the Principals office with the police, facing charges fro fighting in school ? And no one cared that I was protecting school equipment, and myself from three attackers.
I did get this resolved, but quit the visual aids department and handed in my safety badge, and told them that I don't need this shit ! Even back then, schools sucked big time.

John Paul Jones Jr. High, Thomas Edison Sr. High, Philadelphia, PA.
I was stabbed twice and shot at ounce, a good preparation for Vietnam
Both very ethnically diverse schools, with a very Caucasian minority.

I think Obama should apologize to the shooter, look how well it worked in Afghanistan.

I heard bits and pieces of this story all day. That the shooter told others of his intentions and was not taken seriously is such a tragedy.

Maybe the assailant wasn't bullied at all. Maybe he was just like his father, a gun toting a-hole.
disclaimer: I don't know the father or situation. But I would bet guns run in the family.

If nothing else, the kid had access and glorified them as the solution to his social problems.

One of the problems in America. I am sure I will be crucified for this, but too damn many guns and too easy access to them. Look at the number of school shootings in the US compared to Europe, which has about the same population, but much stricter gun control laws.
I guess this is just one of those things that comes with the love of the 2nd amendment.
