It looks like you and Kathleen Parker
might be on the same piece of sheet music. I suppose that you have heard Linda Ronstadt's work with Nelson Riddle (You have to concede that Jerry Brown had good taste). Of course, she sounds good whether she is covering Cole Porter or Mick Jagger.
I would also recommend to you "De-Lovely" the musical bio of Cole Porter with the supremely talented Kevin Kline in the lead role. There are plenty of talented folks performing his songs in the film, including Natalie Cole, Elvis Costello, and his old lady, Diana Krall. Besides the great music, Ashley Judd is stunning.
