Dostoyevsky, in "The Idiot," described the frustration of the Russian Middle class (at that time). Its members were intelligent enough to recognize genius, and at the same time to recognize that it was beyond their reach. I can recognize beauty, wonderful music, amazing photography, stunning architecture, and talented writing. Unfortunately, even with writing, which my profession requires in abundance, I am able to see the limits of my reach. (On the other hand, I am blissfully ignorant of the limits to my son's musical ability - if they exist - and I am able to offer him unqualified encouragement.)

I drew the plans for our new playroom, in fact I also revised and drew the plans for this house, but I cannot draw a human, a still life or a landscape to save my life. Musical talent stopped after my sister, the other brother and me are audience not performers.

I can work with wood to some effect and diagnose and restore electronics, listening to that monster CR-3020 as I type this. The Lord did not equip me for sports but to compensate He did stick a goodly number of wet cells betwen my ears. I can write reasonably well and also develop networking concepts, one of the reasons the admission board cited when giving me a full membership in the IEEE.

Our son has musical talent and our granddaughters are showing good signs, the eldest (5-1/2) is studying violin and we got them a proper 88 key Yamaha "piano" last Christmas.

There is a program on one of the local PBS stations where the host and guests rave over this and that latest art or performance. Frankly I find them as phoney as a three dollar bill. As for the idiot Pete mentioned someone should have stuck him headfirst in it.

The whole point is attributing some taste or talent to a whole group is rather pointless unless that group has publically espoused that taste or talent.

GROOOOOOOOOAN

They really don't look bad, not what I'd have thought, and they are scrap products. Don't care for the dress overall though.

When you come right down to it some of the "fashions" I have seen on TV and in the media were not a heck of a lot better. It strikes me that the designers must really hate women to come up with some of the designs hat they do.

I've heard from friends...their husbands watch "Dancing With the Stars" because they like the costumes.

From the photos of DWTS in the magazines I have to ask;

What costumes?

What do you mean "scrap products"?

They could have ground them up with the assholes and eyeballs and made more Ball Park franks.

As far as that goes, they could have ground up all of the "stars" on DWTS, along with the assholes, eyeballs, and cow nipples and made even more Ball Bark franks.
