You're avoiding my question. You said "This too, is another illegal act in my view." I'm asking if it is more, less, or the same amount of illegal than every military action the United States has taken in the last 30 years under Democratic or Republican Presidents. Simple question. Yes or no.

I do wish you a pleasant evening.... Remember, it isn't about the degree of illegality, but that it is. I am not a friend of military action, if it is avoidable. The action is Libya, totally owned by Obama, was not only avoidable, but completely unnecessary in my view.

You have no clue the scope of the world wide conspiracy.
Wait, if he's from Kenya, why do the whack jobs think he's Muslim? Aren't they mostly Christians over there?

Reread your second sentence. I think you're onto something.

Could you please answer the question? You said very clearly again that the limited bombing in Lybia was illegal. Was the invasion of Iraq illegal as well?
I ask these questions simply and directly. You have yet to answer me in kind.

Actually, wasn't this Libya thing actually LEGAL, eventually anyway. I thought NATO was providing support to the recognized, legitimate rulers of Libya, in fighting a civil war. Not my first choice of how to use my military, but not illegal.

Erik,
The question if military action by the USA is legal or not, does not rest with the UN, but with the Congress. Congress never authorized action in Libya. Obama derived a perceived legitimacy because the UN and the Arab League said it was okay. Obama obviously does not understand that his authority does not come from either of these two bodies. Nor did Obama abide by the War Powers Act. This, is actually an impeachable act - not that he will be impeached though.
As to Iraq, to answer your question Eddie, yes - Congress authorized action. Thus it was a legal action. George Bush sought congressional approval before the action in 2003 and received it. Obama, totally ignored the will of Congress on Libya.
I personal do not agree with either conflict.

Wait, you're changing the rules. Is it clear and present danger, or congressional authority? So now Iraq was legal, but Viet Nam was not.

With his death imminent, Kahddafi reportedly told his captors that they were violating Muslim law.
There are a number if interesting/troubling ethical questions about the way his actual death came about, but that is an issue for another thread.
