Shame as he's one of the few from the right with the business and social sense this country could use.

To point out that the Mormons are a very powerful wealthy clan is screaming? Ever dealt with them businesswise? The ONLY way you'll get a slim dime is if after combing the planet they can't find a fellow Mormon to deal with.
However if he is nominated I'll vote for him, although I suspect the difference between him and Obama is one ruling class shill for another.
Of course, I hear the left screaming about evangelical Christians all the time

Obama shows way on this problem, considering how he dealt with the fringe on the left. It becomes a problem come reelection time though.

Not comparable to the fringe on the left. The teabaggers have become a more powerful, potent force in the party.

You should'a been up here during the 04 campaign. Where I lived at the time, every nut and freak for 50 miles crawled out of the woodwork to bang on my door and discuss 'issues'

The issue here is not wrong or right. I was only pointing out the effect on electability.

Chas,
If I might reinforce Dondillion's position, consider this. Would you consider for Sarah Palin or Micchelle Bachman for President? Whatever choice you would make there, would you consider yourself one of the independent voters that is "in play" in every presidential election?
Bachman would have no national prominence but for her exposure through the Tea Party. Sarah had national recognition when the Tea Party came around, but she used the Tea Party affiliation to enhance her status within the party as a power broker. Her spiel certainly plays best to the tea party. Both Bachman and Palin would be absolutely dependent on the Tea Party element of the GOP to win the nomination. In that sense, the Tea Party would be delivering one who I consider unelectable in the general election. It is in that way that the Tea Party harms the GOP, God bless 'em.
Regards,
D-Ray

You might say that neither would be my first choice.
While not a great fan, Romney looks to be the most electable, so if I had to vote, I'd vote for him at this point in time.

BFD, our Verizon phone is unlisted but I neglected to ask for the same with the Comcast phone. Fortunately it only rings in our office so it is easy to ignore. Funny how huffy they get when I tell them the only way I would vote Repulican is if someone had a gun to my head, and even then I am not certain.
