Good God, I haven't heard THAT line since the early 1970s.
Next thing I know you're going to shout, "America, Love it or Leave it!" at me.
That would be really groovy daddy-o!

The "problem" as I see it, is that people waste their time, and mine, worrying about it. Seeing as how the Constitution forbids making public officials pass "religious test" anyhow. It's not supposed to matter what his religious affiliation is. He could be a Hare Krishna for all I care.

The biggest mistake our president makes is that he tries to prove his religion to these people. I would flat out tell them, "I haven't attended a Sunday service since 1986, and I couldn't care less if you don't like it. My religious beliefs are none of your damn business."

How about GOP politicians who go on Limbaugh, Hannity or Beck? Those clowns are every bit as radical as Rev. Wright, and even more influential.
I also do not care what religion he is. I do care about his actions towards Wright after it became apparent how radical Wright is. GOP politicians going on shows that have a large audience of GOP supporters is not any worse than Obama attending union events. I do not feel that Rush, Beck, and Limbaugh rise to the radicalism of Wright's sermons. Perhaps, Falwell and Robertson are a more appropriate comparison. I still remember the absurd things Robertson said regarding HIV in the early eighties and Reagan's slow response to the problem.

Christ, I'm getting old, I put Rush in there twice. But I do not recall any of them calling for the violent over throw of the government. I have not listened to Limbaugh in fifteen years. I do find Beck entertaining and he does reference sources and is not a satirist like Limbaugh. I also think that on the whole they are less anti-Obama than the left was anti-Bush during 2004-2008.

Here's*a clip from Victor Hansen:

"I am not sure to this day he quite fathomed how much his opponents loathed him and were willing, for example, to equate Guantanamo, renditions, tribunals, Predator drones, etc. with supposed non-constitutional lawlessness — only in an eye blink to snore when Obama either adopted or expanded them all. 2005-8 was a surreal time, when Alfred Knopf published a novel about killing Bush, the Toronto Film Festival gave first prize to a cheap docudrama imagining Bush's death, the Guardian published an op-ed hoping for the return of a modern Lee Harvey Oswald and John Wilkes Booth, and everyone from John Glenn to Robert Byrd was calling Bush a Nazi. Crazy times that are simply and rightly unimaginable among the opposition today."

Imagine the response if the right did any of these things to Obama.

Unfortunately for some the voters do care, and their test is final.

While I may not agree with just about everything he's for, McCain is not a clueless dolt but a bonafide war hero.

He's a bona fide war hero who became a clueless dolt. As Lehman Bros. went down the tubes triggering the second worst economic downturn in our nation's history, he stated "I believe the fundamentals of this economy are strong." And that came after picking the even more clueless dolt from Wasilla as his running mate.

I had the utmost respect for McCain until his disavowed all his previous beliefs during the campaign. He's now even to the right the person I thought was the most clueless doofus in the Senate, Jeff Sessions. That's deserves a lifetime achievement award for cluelessness.

He was largely correct - we never had another great depression.

I believe calling him clueless dolt is about a milion miles over the line. He didn't just serve, he was tortured.

People can serve with distinction in the service and still become something other than the distinguished veteran they once were.

For example, Timoth McVeigh and John Allen Mohammed (DC Sniper) were both service veterans who were honorably discharged (no comparison to McCain intended or implied). For that matter, Charlie Rangel was a war hero. That doesn't render his later shady dealings beyond reproach IMHO.
