Sorry if I am wrong but this is how I read your post, I honestly can think of no other interpretation even after your request to reevaluate it.

Didn't see the funeral so I can't comment on it. We plan on no service, no viewing, simple cremation and that's it.

One memory that sticks is during an uncle's funeral I was returning from the men's room. I saw an onion lying on the top step. Now if you need to resort to that for fake tears . . .

My best friend died a few years back, he was my best friend since I was one year old (literally). Closer to me than my own brother.
He had no service, no viewing, simple cremation and that's it.

I bothers me to this day. I guess what I am saying is that at least to me in this one case having a forum to grieve would have been a little easier for me.

I like your plans, I've given the same directions in regards to me. I don't like blood sucking funeral directors, idiot ministers preaching hellfire and damnation, and three ring funerals with cretins playing music on a ghetto blaster, turning balloons loose, etc.

As far as crying at my demise. I doubt that hardly anyone will cry, even if they pound haberanos up their noses.

It's apparent you don't watch Fox. They've been carrying on like Rupert Murdoch just died, and gave everyone a big bonus in his will.

My aunt died a few years ago. Everyone expected the typical packed-to-the-rafters-with-friends-and-relatives Polish wake, funeral, funeral Mass, burial, and a gathering afterwards, complete with food.

What she got instead, courtesy of her oldest son, was a thirty minute wake/viewing, a ten-minute service, a private cremation, and then her remains got poured into the local river. She didn't even get buried next to her husband (who died over 20 years ago and still has no grave marker). Made an awful lot of relatives VERY angry and upset, especially my Dad.

I could go on, but I won't bother. All I'll say is that there's nowhere near enough respect for the dead, never mind the living.

even though im an atheist i do belive in prayer and i would like to say that i offer my prayers for your dad what the son did was a crime.
