What those horrible apologists for slavery in Florida need to do, is to follow the example of this state, which is going to establish a memorial to the victims of slavery. Here's how their legislation reads:
==================================================
Slavery Memorial.—
(1) It is the intent of the Legislature to recognize the fundamental injustice, cruelty, brutality, and inhumanity of slavery in the United States and the American Colonies and to honor the nameless and forgotten men, women, and children who have gone unrecognized for their undeniable and weighty contributions to the United States.
(2) There is established the Slavery Memorial.
(a) The memorial is administered by the Department of Management Services.
(b) The Department of Management Services shall develop a plan for the design, placement, and cost of the memorial. The plan shall include the designation of an appropriate public area for the memorial on the premises of the Capitol Complex, as defined in s. 281.01, not including the State Capital Circle Office Complex. The department shall consider the recommendations of the Historical Commission as required pursuant to [identifying numbers here ] and shall coordinate with the Division of Historical Resources of the Department of State in developing the plan. The department shall submit the plan to the Governor, the President of the Senate, and the Speaker of the House of Representatives.

But can you imagine the state of Florida doing something like this?????
