Good on them for speaking out against this tin horn fascist.

Note, DeFascist has his own mother in the shadows, Casey who I have read is the brains behind his rise to power. Cannot see her saying yes to playing second fiddle.
Strategic move. While tRump may hope it garners him more votes. If he were unable to serve heaven forbid if elected) that would leave DeSanctis in the driver's seat. If tRump were to be prevented from running DeSanctis would hope to assume the mantle of Republican leader. Sounds crazy but stranger things have happened.

Understand this, no matter what he's said or done if by some magic Meatball gets nominated the GOP/GQP will do anything to get him elected.

I still don't buy it, but of course only my gut feel.

With Casey running the show, she would not want Ron to be associated with Trump, a certified loser. What can Trump do for DeSantis? Nothing. Getting featured on Twitter is a huge leg up for him unless Trump also takes his act there.

DeSantis already has the national stage and he can raise his profile further by standing up to Trump. But of course, the MAGAts will hate him for it and I still believe that DeSantis cannot beat Trump in the primaries. Trump branded Koolaid has a long shelf life.

The uncertainty is how will the three pending lawsuits (GA and the two by Smith) impact Trump's campaign. If I were DeSantis, I will be playing this up loud and clear and take my chances with the MAGAts. In reality, DeFascist is more MAGA than the MAGAman himself and as you have said, they will come around if he is the nominee and DeSantist can also pull in the never Trumpers in the GOP.

Should turn out to be a entertaining cage fight. and if he does opt to become Trump's running mate, hope we don't get cheated out of a mano a mano battle between Ron and Don.

DeSantis better have a campaign strategy to deal with this:

A Texas sheriff’s department has recommended that the district attorney in Bexar County bring criminal charges over the first iteration of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ so-called migrant relocation program. Those flights last September sent 49 asylum seekers, most of them Venezuelans, from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts.

According to a statement provided to the Miami Herald, the Bexar County sheriff completed its criminal investigation into the on-the-ground operation that allegedly lured migrants onto the flights with false promises of jobs and opportunities on the other end.

“The case filed includes both felony and misdemeanor charges of Unlawful Restraint,” according to the statement. “At this time, the case is being reviewed by the DA’s office. Once an update is available, it will be provided to the public.”

He's also now being investigated in CA for kidnapping in the recent case of him flying 2 planes of migrants to Sacramento in similar fashion.

Yet DeSantis's assholeishness (criminal or not) doesn't appear to have dissuaded Repubs from supporting him.

I am not sure that the Republicans are all in for DeSantis. For now a backup option just in case Trump gets charged by DOJ or Fani Willis and is unable to conduct an effective campaign. I do expect Trump to destroy Meatball very soon since he is getting too much attention and Trump will not put up with it. Still thinks DeFascist is being disloyal.

If Trump did not have these serious legal issues, he would again run practically unopposed. Doubt if Pence would have made a squeak.

My money is on him being the first to announce the first thing he will do as President, declassifying all the files Trump kept after leaving as President. Pardon Trump at the same time for any and all crimes past and future.

That would leave Donny free to continue running the Republican party. That'd be a problem for Meatball with him being president but tRump still pulling the party's strings.

Unless Don & Ron form an allegiance as you had previously proposed, they need to destroy each other, Trump more so than Defascist. Unlike the previous era, doubt if their party has any influence on either candidate. DeFascit has now co-opted Trump's MAGA mantra as the Great American Comeback, but of course his plan also requires destruction of America before he can orchestrate a comeback. Trump is peddling snake oil while DeSantis is promising Fascism.
