Hi BigElCat, I'll make a deal with ya right here right now;
If you or anyone else, right on up to the site management (Bob), can prove by IP numbers that I'm an "alter-ego of some other member" I will sign out of this board and never return. Is that your standard response to any new member who posts something you find uncomfortable, "He's new and I don't like what he says, so he MUST be a sock puppet"???? Tell ya what, why don't you do a search of the init4fun name and see exactly who I am? I've been a VK member since 2009 and an AK member for a couple of years and am a Moderator at AK as well. So, with that said, the challenge is on, I defy you to pin any other poster's "alter-ego" on me. I know it's MUCH easier to play "Kill the Messenger" VS taking an honest look at yourself and how the conversations here ALWAYS devolve into the same name calling nonsense, this board is after all a microcosm of what goes in in the real political world. To Hell with trying to reach common ground, tis way better to demonize the other side so that "our" side looks superior, is that really how you think politics should operate Mr. Cat?
There will be NO agreements on anything, gun violence included, until BOTH sides knock off the BS "us VS them" schoolyard mentality, recognize that a problem truly DOES exist with the current lack of respect between the two major political parties, and begin to actually focus on (in this case) why people keep getting shot dead en masse, rather than focusing on who can come up with the best insult for the other side

Well said, now I suspect that you are in fact human.
Except the part about how I'm on one side (or automatically on the other side). And I'm the one who thinks this is the way politics should work.
Carry on.

You've read none of my posts, apparently. If you decline to do that much, while at the same time being (or feigning) frightened of a Christmas card, not much more I can say to you on the subject.

Thank You BigElCat, I appreciate your response.
And since I appear to have misunderstood you to be one of those firmly entrenched on one side or the other, you DO have my sincerest apology for the mistaken characterization

So we don't do invasive psych evals on everyone, just those who want a dangerous gun bad enough to go through one, and pay for it.
Buybacks, in stages, of all the dangerous guns out there. Get people used to the idea by first just going after the really scary-looking war-style guns.

Best post of this thread thus far, I'd give it a "like" if we had that feature here

A tone-deaf holiday message saying basically "fuck your feelings" to celebrate the birth of the Prince of peace.
We're not stupid, or clueless.

So what do you say about the cyclist who lost her job for flipping at Trump's motorcade? This was her reasoning.
Quote:
Juli Briskman, a Democrat, lost her job after a photographer took a picture of her raising her middle finger to Trump's presidential motorcade while riding her bike in 2017.
"I was frustrated," Briskman told ABC News Wednesday. "(Trump) had called folks down in Charlottesville good people on both sides. He had stripped funding away from Obamacare advertising. Puerto Rico was being blamed for their own demise at a hurricane... What we had feared most was actually happening and I just wanted to tell (the president) what I was thinking."
|
Amazing that she referred to him as President which I would not have.

Where would the hugely costly bureaucracy, support structure and enforcement of these new regulations be located?
Republicans will never agree to Federal control, and unless it's enforced at the Federal level it won't be enforced in states that hold gun rights to be sacrosanct and we'll have the same situation as we have now where mass shootings in California, New York, etc. will be done by perps that acquire their assault rifles & ammo in states with little or no enforcement of regulations.

Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear (D) said two of his close friends were killed in the shooting and another was injured.
“I have a very close friend that didn’t make it today. And I have another close friend who didn’t, either,” he told reporters, choking up. “And one who’s at the hospital, that I hope is going to make it through.”
Beshear thanked first responders for acting quickly and credited them with saving lives. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives; and the FBI are assisting with the investigation.
Beshear said he is a client of the bank where the shooting happened and used it as a base for his 2015 campaign for state attorney general.
“We’ve got to wrap our arms around these families,” Beshear said. “And everybody who needs it, don’t be afraid to get some help. Our bodies and our minds are not meant to go through these types of tragedies.”

Wonder what McConnel will say about this shooting.
