Furtherest thingy from the truth dude. I engage the people you hate face to face and try to make change every chance I get.
Your just the same loud minority as the people you bitch about, just the other extreme so mostly just noise to me just as they are.
BTW I do not disagree with your position at all, just that you are lumping everyone in the same box.
Cheers Ike, like I said just a back and forth at this point. I out with the engaging.
Have a good one!!

In a perfect world we would not need to have this discussion. Firearms would be used for hunting target practice.
Unfortunately we live in a society where it seems from the cradle to the grave violence and firearms are accepted. All the while a naked body sexual hangups alternative life styles are the other side of the coin.
Unfortunately firearms will be around so taking steps to change their availability and type is the place to start.

It doesn't have to be a perfect world, it only has to be a reasonably sane country that isn't so crazy fucked up. And there are plenty of them, imperfect but sane. All over western Europe, iceland, New Zealand. Where women aren't treated like brood mares, and where the first time there was a mass shooting the people demanded that the government do something adout it...and the government did. But not this shithole country where all that matters is every idiot individual's fucked up "god given: rights and freedoms. Like Americans have a clue what theirbrights and freedoms are really all about.
Heres my problem with thebright, and it's every stinking one of them...when the covid hit all we heard aboutbwas "my body, my choice". Nice platitude, particularly when it applies to everybody but the pregnant American women. Fuck the American right, and the horse they rode in on.

This problem with the use of firearms is a very complicated multifaceted one. The approach of forceful removal of any of or all will be met with disastrous results. The approach needs to be incremental dealing with not only removal also education and working together.
Now this will take all sides to work together in a adult manner. I don't see it happening in this ultra charged times. One where the schools are pulling books, the statue of David is called obscene. Video games and movies full of violence. The country is being coalesced into two major camps not talking to each other without yelling.
There may well be 99.99% of the firearm owners in this country that will never be the problem. There is still a problem and steps to go after the underlying causes need addressing. The anger, hate the feelings of helplessness and being left behind. Wanting to lash out and hurt people.
I have a feeling we will get there.
Just not as fast as need be.

All of this ^^^
This issue is like a 2500 piece puzzle. Banning semi-automatic weapons is 10 pieces of the puzzle, why did someone feel the need to pull the trigger is 2000 pieces and the root cause, the other 490 are the other laws and "restrictions" (licensing, training etc) that need to be put in place.

The biggest hurdle in making positive progress to reduce gun violence are the law makers.

All of this ^^^^
The Chief and Oerets pitching this nonsense about how the great independent middle of this country will come together and correct everything, is utter nonsense. There is no great independent middle...there hasn't been one since Vietnam. American conservatives have been attacking it since Vietnam with their "love it or leave" bullshit, and with the election of Barack Obama, they have succeeded in killing it. Poor disenfranchised white supremacist christian Americans who have had complete power and control over the politics and economy of this country since the founding and squandered it with their entitlement and arrogance. And now they want their country back...using any and every dirty and evil thing they can dig up. And were being told that its just the "extremists on both sides." FEH! Which is yiddish for...FEH!
So I guess as much as I'm in agreement with barbara and DonQ...when it comes down to it...it's on the people. Sometimes, in my frustration and dismay, I find myself agreeing with anti-enlightenment philosopher Joseph de Maistre, who said...
"Every country has the government it deserves."
