Hitler came to power in March 1933. The Final Solution wasn't conceived and enacted until January 1942. In other words, it took 9 years for Hitler to go from seizing power to implementing the Final Solution. Many distinguished scholars and intellectuals who have studied authoritarian regimes (e.g., Ruth Ben-Ghiat, Madeline Albright, Anne Applebaum) fear a further descent into authoritarianism if Trump were to win another term as President. It's naive and dangerous to think that "it can't happen here." Hell, we have hero worship of a teenager who cross state lines to shoot up a demonstration against police abuse of authority (this very abuse of authority is championed by Trump and his ilk).
As for Hitler vs Mussolini's respective ideologies,
Hitler took much of his inspiration from Mussolini. Nazism is simply a furtherance of Mussolini's Fascist ideology enabled by a nation with greater industrial, scientific and military capacity.
