I didn't know that anybody could actually make music worse than the commercial dreck coming out of Nashville these days. I stand corrected.
I bet that if somehow the population of your town was magically transformed to reflect the demographics of the 3000 killed at the WTC on 9/11, you'd bolt your own hometown like a scalded cat.

The yokel singing that song knows nothing about 911 nor do you.
That was my buddy Steve who jumped out that window on 911, that was the escalator I used everyday to get to work and home, those were are my buddies in the rubble searching for survivors, Joe, Mike, Josh... That was my daughter I ran to get out of school after I saw the second plain hit( and not on TV.) Those were my soccer fields that the army took over for a staging area, that was my hockey rink that was set to receive the corpses that day, that was my daughter who watched the towers burning out the back of the car as I speed to the country side just before all the roads were closed down. That is the the statue I saw out my window everyday, that was my neighborhood who had 14 funerals, that was my neighborhood who had the last surviving victim to leave a hospital burn unit YEARS later.
That is my fuckin' city that was attacked, my frckin' country.
So learn to get along with me or fuck off.
No i have not forgotten, unlike the dick head who sings the song I lived it. I did not adapt it to promote my agenda.
you need any clarification?
who is that ass whip who is trying to adapt my countries tragedy for his self promotion anyway?
and yes we have much different taste in music, I like authentic music not manufactured music

Damn. I wish more New Yorkers would speak out like that. Sorry to hear of all your suffering, Nooner. A terrible tragedy 9/11 was indeed.

If it's anything like my hometown? Yep. That, or go on a murderous rampage.

I agree, Dave, and Noone, my already great respect for you has increased measurably. Given your personal experience on 9/11, it couldn't have been easy to retain your objectivity and humanity. You're a far, far better person than those who were driven to blind hatred by the images they saw on the tube.
John

don't misunderstand I was blinded with rage when I saw Arabs celebrating on the news (as we all did) in my hometown of Paterson NJ and I actually asked the
officer at the Journal Sq Path to have his tank (which was deployed there) to drive it up the street and park it in front of the mosque (where they planned the first attack on the WTC)
I just think there is an obvious difference between someone who conspires to attack us and someone who looks lossy similar to someone who attacked us.
What was interesting about 911 was the level of threat felt. Two hours later when I got to my mom and dad's house I found a stark contrast to what I had just left. People were slowly coming home, stopping at the supermarket etc. My cousin was working in the yard with the radio turned up so he could be aware but going about his business. I learned allot that day and the months immediately after. As great a communicative tool as TV is it just can't translate emotion effectively.
One thing that I did scoff at (and still do) is how everybody gets homeland security monies. I remember seeing the St Louis Arch on the news, all shrouded in security. I'd sleep like a baby at the top of the thing with no security. Not just folks in the Mid west over reacting but also right there at home. My buddy told me how he had spent the day (fire department) inspecting the Bayonne Bridge to be sure it had not been tampered with by the "terrorists." There is no one in a cave trying to figure out a way to take down the Bayonne Bridge. (I didn't have the heart to break it to him)
We need to get serious and practical with homeland security but those dollars make profits and every county in this country wants some of it. But it's just a waste.
and most of all we can't let people "use" our losses on 911 to promote an agenda of social stagnation or anything else

[BIG PICTURE]Strategically, the only thing lost on 9/11 was a sense of invulnerability. Naturally, we overreacted and began swatting flies with Buicks.[/BIG PICTURE]
Thus far, any "cure" has been worse than the disease.

So Osama bin Laden got exactly what he wanted, we near bankrupted the country, lost thousands of our bravest and best, and ran the country in a constant state of FUD.
