I really am not mad at the dem's.. more like facing the fact that time has changed things and my tribe must walk into the setting sun, alone.
Yeah, it's more a lonely feel. Had I become radicalize I'd still have the tribe but my reason separated me. No one to blame but myself. I was welcome to adapt the mores of the new left but I choose not to.

You think, then, that Barb was being mean and disrespectful? You just say she was being 'transparent,' but you don't say 'transparently what.' You should not leave that unsaid. Say it and own it.
Barb, was it your intent to be mean and disrespectful?
----------------
I am much more concerned with people's reactions and feeling regarding other actual persons on this board, and i am about abstract beliefs about who some 'big person' (the Democratic party being thought of as a 'big person') accepts or rejects.
This talk of tribes walking into the sunset is far removed from any concrete reality. We have an abstract thing (this tribe) doing a metaphor (sunset walk)? It's hard to figure what the 'evidence' might be for the 'big person' acting as alleged.

This is a law of nature and we are seeing it at work. Appeasing one group is bound to bring about an adverse or opposite reaction from the group that feels slighted. And this is a cycle that perpetuates.

great thought, thanks!

We already know who we are and why we are like that, we believe in fairness and a level playing field that doesn't start with a silver spoon and white privelege. We work for a country that realizes it's ideals and is not just a cruel parody of those ideals that depends on a de facto class system to support an elite ruling class.
We are not there, and may never get there in our lifetime, but we have worthy goals in our ideals that should not be abandoned for slights not intended, or imagined.

I agree with much of this
But you need to understand that feeling are valid. You can't tell someone that their feels are not valid... you can only comment on why you feel differently given the same impetuous.

I'm trying to 'get' your reaction to the convention, can you be specific about your feeling left out. What was left out that left you out?

seriously, barb has been adversarial and frankly petty and spiteful to me even since I refused to take a generic answer from her and pressed her. It was not in an antagonistic way that I pressed her, it was in the same manner in which I would in the work place or with my kids. She was unable to explain what she claimed. My exposing her was an accident not by design. She has never gotten over it however.
.................
By the way, I appreciate your cartoon and this post.
