Funny thing is I found out later in life that I could've claimed a legacy berth at Colo Springs from my gramps, an Army Air Corp Dadaelian in WW1. He helped to opened Kelly Field in Texas. One of the first aerobatics instructors there in a Jenny biplane.

Could be. The base commander happened to see gramps put his Jenny into a flat spin and he just barely avoided pancaking into the Texas scrub brush. So, once he landed he was informed that he was in charge of aeronautics.
Gramps was one tough old bird. Later on he flew the mail for FDR on the Salt Lake/Los Angeles run. That's how he became a full colonel in the Army Air Corp.

Beachy died in 1915, before the US entered WWI, so your grandfather probably never knew him.
