What I notice most of all is your refusal to recognize the dangers posed by Trump and your jocular dismissal of those who see him for what he is.

The impression I'm getting is

1. He's emotionally attracted to Trump. Finds him 'entertaining, refreshing.'
2. He's not ready for Trump=Hitler or anything close, it emotionally strikes him as a ridiculous over-reaction.
3. He has some intellectual problems with some facets of Trumpism.

He struggles between 1. and 3. But 2. reinforces 1. for him, and together they may well 'trump' 3., for a while at least.
