Umpqua Community College, site of a mass shooting Thursday, bans guns, knives longer than 4 inches and other weapons from campus.

But that policy has one big exemption that renders the pastoral 100-acre campus near Roseburg anything but a gun-free zone: Everyone with a concealed firearms license is allowed to bring guns on campus.

Right. If a state law is found unconstitutional by the SCOTUS the law must be struck down. This is how we enforce the United States Constitution.

For example, here’s a photo (right) from the front door of the Chief Joseph Elementary School in Portland.The sign says all weapons are prohibited. It goes on to warn “This includes weapons carried under a concealed weapons (sic)permit.” It warns potential transgressors that they are “subject to arrest.”

Putting aside for a moment that Oregon does not issue “concealed weapons permits,” this school just like every other public school in the state, has NO authority to forbid a person with a concealed handgun license from entering school property. While both Oregon and Federal law forbid people from being on school property with firearms, concealed handgun license holders are exempt from both laws. Oregon statute 166.370 forbids firearms in “public buildings” which schools are, but subsection B says“this section does not apply to:… (d) A person who is licensed under ORS 166.291 and 166.292 to carry a concealed handgun.” As we have said elsewhere, if you have a chl you may carry unto public school property.

If Oregon does not issue “concealed weapons permits,” and schools put signs up stating they are prohibited and a gun free zone. The public is efectivly hampered and deceived by lefties. In other words it's a gun free zone because of the deception and knowledge of federal law.

It comes down to self preservation.

I've played this situation in my mind and determined that if I find myself in a situation like this and I am armed I am not going to try to play John Wayne for people I hardly know. What I am going to do is hunker down with my weapon and only use it if the fucker comes after me, or someone very important to me.

I will bet you one thing, no one on that campus that had a gun was shot.

So, word to the wise Bob, bring your own goddamn gun to the mass shooting, my gun is to save my ass, not yours.

As I have often mentioned, concealed weapons make no sense in the hands of the general public. You have a weapon, display it openly. That may help dissuade the criminals better.

Heck you don't even need a real gun and have to deal with the responsibility of protecting your fellow citizens. Just fake it with fake guns while looking macho, since that's all the real intent is.
