If everything is illegal, then government can pick and chose who they apply the laws to.
Clinton or Betrayus is a good example or IRS targeting, how about mining data that if you're not deemed a good citizen it can be used against you.
Laws are in place to protect us not to be used against us by government. Our greatest laws are under attacked by political factions that would like to see us lose all rights that this country is founded on. The right to bear arms is in place for this very reason, supporting the natural rights of self-defense, resistance to oppression by government.
They can fuck off

The GOP message machine certainly finds fertile ground in your feeble mind.

Right. Another whacked out point of view, that never ceases to amaze;
"Well, people are going to kill anyways, so why get excited about it?"
If we have to explain that to someone, then the next person to get shot should be the one who has to ask.

We have laws providing for very stiff penalties for operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. I know of no law which penalizes the mere firing of a gun while under the influence.
We have laws that penalize texting while driving.

Hmmm, I guess there are still a few rational legislators left in Tennessee.

The last is just not there, nor is it implied.
Sorry, you are being reactionary and irrational.

Who in the hell ever said anything about making "everything illegal"?
Has it ever occurred to you that part of "protecting us" includes protecting us from each other? Jesus Christ, how much more plain does it need to get that fellow citizens who happen to be lunatics and/or criminals are a threat? ESPECIALLY IF YOU INSIST ON ARMING THEM. Yet, you tell us that the government is supposed to make laws that protect us, then tell us the government can do nothing to keep the crazies from arming themselves.......
You know who needs to "fuck off"?
You.

BTW, since someone brought up "Gun free zones". Oregon colleges like Umpqua Community College are not gun free by state law.
