It seems to me that liberals are far more willing to regulate cars, cell phones and alcohol than conservatives are, not that any of these have anything whatsoever to do with mass murder.

Well, if you take only half of my comment, it's out of context! I wasn't talking about mental illness, I was talking about people buying guns on the spur of the moment. A lot of it is being generated by politics and the left's efforts to step on others rights.

It effectively puts more guns in the population's hands and most likely in a not so safe storage.

Of course it won't. It would be as effective as training criminals the proper use of firearms...........

The problem has absolutely nothing to do with training. Lunatics don't accidently kill people because no one told them not to. Criminals kill despite being told it's wrong because they enjoy it and just don't care.

I'm so sick of all of these idiotic arguments. We shouldn't do ANYTHING about crazies having access to guns because people die in auto accidents?????? Why do ANYTHING about uncheck gun proliferation when a person could also get killed from a BBQ grille accident?????????

The twisted logic of these people is evidence in itself that proves they are out of their minds. And, the more adamant they become in using such nonsensical arguments, the more one questions the wisdom of attempting rational dialog with them at all.

In fact................

No joke, and at least half the Congress-critters make equally bewildering, disingenuous arguments. At least they should have the balls to say "We wholeheartedly accept carnage our streets, rather than trying to do something about it." At least Jeb! had the balls (or stupidity) to essentially say it.

It's called "paranoia".....a mental disorder.
BTW Dave, I don't even own any guns anymore, I got out of that hobby. But looking at the lefties on this site, your all the ones that are packing and paranoid.

Don't you have anything to offer here other than the same old NRA talking points and spin?

According to the FBI murders have decreased over the last 6 years, while according to Gallup, personal firearm ownership has been on the rise. Look at the number of homicides between handguns vs rifles and I wonder why we are so up in arms over "assault" style rifles instead of handguns. Seems we really don't care about facts, unless of course they fit our mindset. Then we can defend the way we think while trying to invalidate other sources.

Murder Victims by Weapon, 2009–2013

Murder by State, Types of Weapons, 2014

Gallup gun ownership poll.
Perhaps we need 'statistics control' because people often use them poorly, and even to support crimes?

My statistics ARE facts, and you can have them when you pry them from my cold dead fingers!

Seriously, you are correct that open-mindedness is more honored in the breach than elsewise, and even people who think they are open-minded often aren't--let alone the conservatives who mock the open-mindedness of liberals. So a reminder is never amiss.

Yep. Our buddy -5 did the same just a few posts back.

Such people are just fine with shot up movie theaters and elementary schools. They seem to think that the daily carnage with the bonus of an occasional massacre is the "price of freedom".........

I question whether we are actually "free" at all, living in such a society and it makes their heads explode. Once it reaches the point where I feel I must carry a loaded weapon wherever I go and maintain my home as a fortress, because they have loaded up our nation with idiots, lunatics and criminals who have free, unhindered access to firearms...............

No. I am no longer free. At that point I am a prisoner in my own land and America is no longer worth living in.
