Donald Trump was supposed to flame out fast. Instead, he's burning ever hotter in the first contests of the 2016 Republican presidential primary.
The real estate mogul and reality TV star has a seven-point lead over his nearest competitor in New Hampshire, and he's breathing down the neck of longtime Iowa caucuses leader Scott Walker, according to two NBC-Marist University polls released Sunday morning.

The longer Trump is in the race, the .ore harm he does to the eventual Republican nominee.
Go Donald!

Walker is a walking, talking poster child for what is wrong with the Republican Party today. Yes, they're going to build a stronger America by throttling it's neck for every bit of oxygen (Money) they can prevent from reaching the brain (Education). They're going to make America great by putting it's muscles (Working class) into atrophy (Low wages.). They're going to grease the wheels of Capitalism by allowing the path before it (Infrastructure) to crumble and decay. They're going to address violence by seeing to it that every idiot, criminal and lunatic in the country has free, unfettered access to whatever weaponry their hearts desire...............Which can always be countered with more guns, more prisons and militarized law enforcement....... Yeah, looks like "freedom" to me.
But, hey.......... At least a handful of billionaires might get to keep more of their money, so it's all good.
Right?

Well expressed Dave and I agree on every point. Imagine if higher education was offered for free to those who want it, who then would repay by working for the government for a set period of time. Of course there needs to be certain restrictions and Obama had proposed something like this I believe. But it takes a lot less work and political will to offer H1B's.
May not like Trump but hard not to like what he is doing. By not pandering, his message is resonating with a large segment of the right wing.

I don't like what Trump is doing. You don't call his stroking of the anger and bigotry of the RW base pandering? Don't dismiss this guy as a positive for the country because he attacks Republicans at this point--he is not. There's a real danger he will be the next president.

I was alluding to his attacks on the entrenched GOP politicians and to me that is not pandering. Why is the GOP afraid of Trump and have been mostly afraid of throttling him or his message?
There is no chance he will ever win the general election, even if he runs as an independent. The two party stranglehold of the electoral process will assure this will never happen. For now he is a spoiler and on attack mode which is shaking the foundation of the current political system. To me that is good.

No he can't win as an independent. But he does have the ability to run as an independent and destroy the chances of whoever the regular Republican nominee is. That's why there's been no serious move by the Rs to shut him down. He may possibly force the Republican nomination for himself.
And with THAT, he could win. Probably not, but it's not a risk I'm happy with.

The sad commentary is that you have to be an uber-rich asshole to be president.

With uber-rich assholes, it would depend on context. People with that kind of money are a minority of the population, but they have the majority of the nations wealth, so I guess there is a balance there. However, the whole uber-rich population is made up of almost 100% assholes, so I guess it is all left up to interpretation.
