The NRA means that good people with weapons can stop these massacres, instead of gun control. Well I was making a point. The good guy with a weapon seems to be markedly absent lately, and in the case of Chattanooga not enough.

Twisted logic by the NRA and gun nuts.

Bad guy with the gun does not care if he dies during his demented act. As for the good guys, do they have an option? Or even a chance to defend themselves? No and that's why this logic of arming the good guys sucks.

How can you unequivocally say that?

You can never win in a situation where you respond to an adversary's initiative.

In short, I could be sitting in the theatre as the good guy. The psycho is not going to come up and politely announce that he will begin a massacre. So they kill many even if the good guy is lucky enough to fight back.

It is deflection. It is a way for the NRA to rationalize their worship of assault weapons and ease their conscience.

In other words good guys are sitting ducks as the bad guy acts out heinously.
Or answer me this, the bad guy with a gun is ready to shoot and kill. Where are the good guys guns? Can they even get at it, decide to stand up and shoot (where have I heard that!), aim and kill the perp? So called CC permits for law abiding citizens is such a joke! It's just for bragging rights.

Do we even know if anyone else in the theater had a weapon? Seems to me that someone shooting back at the perp would complicate his life greatly.

Let me ask you this, is the intent here to justify unmitigated gun ownership or address mass killings in say schools, churches, theaters, recruiting centers, etc. In other words protecting the innocent public from being massacred.

Good question.
I'm pretty sure I know what answer you would get from that NRA.

My intent is to show that no one can say exactly what will happen in any given situation.

I cannot guarantee that if someone else had been armed and willing to fight back that the killing would have stopped, just as you cannot be sure that if someone else had been armed and willing to fight back that it would make no difference whatsoever.

That is my only intent.
