On my mothers side I had a grandmother and her two brothers that were slaves to German immigrants. My grandmother was forced to bear child by her slaveholder while her same slaveholder also owned her two brothers and they lived a short life because they were forced to pull a plow and were beaten when they would tire. Irish, white as snow they were.


On my dads side, I had a grandfather who himself and all five of his brothers were marched off to fight the union army and he was the only one to survive. If not for him, I wouldn't be here. Perhaps that would make yall happy.

But hell no, I don't tell people they are racist for their flag. If I took a notion to hang one I'd damn very well sure do it if I wanted to so therefor I do not label everyone racist for it.

Having said that; I do not believe in banning it as it is protected speech as loathsome as it may be. In fact, I have as yet to hear of any serious effort to ban it and I suspect all of the hullabaloo is another baseless meme of the right, meant to divide and incite us.

Yes, it certainly is. I have enjoyed living in Virginia and plan to continue doing so into the foreseeable future. The flag represents the Confederacy. Ever read the Confederate constitution? Those people were all about protecting, preserving and advancing slavery into any territories acquired by the Confederacy into the future. Specifically named is "negroe slavery". There is mention of "....others held in service", that's true. But, "Negroes" were the primary victims of that system. I call that "racism".

Stop handing me this "the flag doesn't represent racism" bullshit. It does. It always has.

It belongs in a museum with all of the other defeated symbols of inhumanity and tyranny.
