No, as your link states, the increase in support for "gun rights" has been caused by a belief that violent crime is increasing but, in fact, it's at a 20 year low.

Why do you suppose that people believe violent crime is on the rise when it's actually declining? Couldn't be fear mongering, could it?

You missed the point.

It was meant to point out conservative "irony".

Of course, we've all seen what happens when conservatives are confronted with their own irony. This;

They just don't get it at all. (As is readily evidenced by your reply.)

Oh, how do we count the ways?

Just tune to any rightwing propaganda outlet and you'll get an earful of fear mongering all day long, 24/7/365.

Do you know the POTUS is trying to help Iran get nuclear bombs? Do you know you're never safe, not even in your own home, even if you live a hundred miles from the rest of humanity, unless you keep a loaded weapon within reach at all times? Did you know that Black Panthers will beat you up if you're a conservative and you show up at the polls on election day? Did you know that FEMA is building death camps? Did you know the POTUS is deliberately letting in Mexican criminals so they can chop the heads off of white cattle ranchers? Did you know that the United States is now a 3rd World nation? Did you know that..........

Oh, we could go on all day long. In fact Bullshit Mountain has grown so large it's blocking the sun. And, of course...........................................

It's all Obamas fault.

Dave

There, does that clear things up for you?

I do not like your Brave New World.

I think one of the biggest problems in America is people believing they have a right to own weapons without restrictions. Of course they do not see it that way...but selfishness leads to Sandy Hook. The guy from Arizona has this nice quote about old men planting seeds for trees whose shade they will never enjoy but future generations will. Well gun control is a seed that should be planted so future generations do not get killed by self-absorbed and/or mentally deranged fanatics with semi-automatic weapons.

Exactly, Robbin. The short sightedness is amazing.

My question is; Are criminals and crazies manufacturing their own guns?

The answer, of course, is "No."

At some point they ALL pass through the hands of law abiding citizens. So, one would think gun owning, law abiding citizens would want to help us figure out what to do to keep them out of the hands of unsavory people, rather than dogmatically oppose any effort..............

So far, it's not looking like they even give a shit what happens outside their doors, so long as they have enough ammo to hold off the invaders for a while.

The 2nd Amendment was the nation's first arms control law.

I can't own M-80s firecrackers or switch-blade knives.........demanding a right to place an M-16 above my fireplace mantle, even if just to look at it,
is in effect demanding that EVERYONE, psychopath or not, have a right to buy one.

The background check does not work...no one checks the box next to the "are you a psychopath" question. IF they buy it at a store...

And those who blow the incidents of bad policing way out of proportion are at the FM cutting edge along with the gun nuts. It's all part of the blue/red political/corporate partnership we live under. Fascism American Style
