Well, there's also the "poor me" syndrome wherein those whose lives do not measure up to what they believe themselves entitled to develop an attitude of belligerence instead of actively working to change it through an appropriate means...

It's very similar to the issue I have with many reservation bound American Indians.

They lament their lives there with poverty rampant, crime, drugs, violence, et al, but they won't leave because -- somehow -- they have developed a sort of Stockholm Syndrome from a prior oppressor mandating that anything less is "non-traditional" or "progressive."

Like many in other cultures, they have assimilated the values of a social power which no longer forces them to live, act or believe in this manner without their tacit approval.

And they give it.

That's not -- and this goes for MANY minorities - the fault of the white man, it's internal.
