There are all kinds of 'experts" out there.

I want to hear from people who live in the communities, not cops with an agenda.

I'm sure you do, but only to the degree that they say something as uninformed as the shit you spew. Leave it to you to trust some anonymous clown on the street rather than an acknowledged and decorated person in the field. You're hopeless.

My only exposure to Bon Jovi was when I was lazing around a hotel pool in San Juan during a business trip when a bunch of teenage girls started screaming and giggling (like you'd do if you ever made a valid point). Bon Jovi was apparently staying in the same hotel as I was during their tour stop in Puerto Rico.

All I see coming from those "acknowledged and decorated persons in the field." as you call them is excuses.

Number two if blacks can't meet the standards as often as whites that shows the effect that institutionalized racism has had upon them. It has nothing to do with their genetics.

Blacks, in particular black males are subjected to racism from the moment they are conceived in the womb as their mothers are more likely to be poor and therefore less likely to have access to good pre-natal care. Again due to the history of institutionalized racism. This stacking of the deck against them continues right up until they die. Even then, since they are more likely to be poor and end up in some cut rate boneyard instead of a fancy upscale cemetery, but once your dead it doesn't really matter does it?
Thank you for your considered response. It gives me something to think about.

Sending an armed guy with PTSD out into the 'hood doesn't sound like a great idea to me.
The facts are most of the local qualified applicants seem to have to leave their neighborhoods in order of getting good jobs now. Not all vets return with PTSD. There is a big group of recent vets who have MP training returning. Experience with urban environments and a hostile residents. But even if they were pencil pushers in the Coast Guard they have shown the ability to do service.

I still will think from my experience with local government job openings. Sure there is a application system setup. List of resume or a file. But in the end it is a son daughter or golf buddy, campaign contributor's suggestion that gets the position. Papers are made to work.

Like I said in another thread that is exactly the way it was where I worked in sate government. It was damned hard to break in off the street.

The only reason I managed to get my foot in the door was that I was a Vietnam Veteran and two of the dudes on the hiring committee were Vietnam Vets too.
