Violence is as American as cherry pie. I'm no fan of any of it, believe me. But I've got little patience with this notion that 'cop wrongful violence and official misconduct are regrettable, but black people acting out over it is HORRIBLE AND UNACCEPTABLE.' You can't fix the one without fixing the other. Trying to stop the second and then getting around to the first when you can is just AIDING AND ABETTING the oppression.

Theft = entitlement. Brown was entitled.

The rat is that many black folks accept thuggery from criminals like Brown as acceptable then whine or react with anger when he -- of his own assaultive accord -- gets himself shot by attacking empowered authority.

That's on him and those who would, by their own beliefs, support him.

Why do you see the word? Because it's the root of the issue.

Entitlements are what allowed the disintegration of the black family as well as poor whites. It was an unintended consequence. And, I don't know what the alternative was other than some suffering children.

But, you have to think that a lot of these fathers would have been forced to take care of their children rather than walk away and watch them suffer. And, the mothers would have done a better job of figuring out how not to have them.

Children need a father if possible.

I see nothing about petty theft, here. He may have thought he was "entitled" to free cigars, but he wasn't. I am "entitled" to next weeks paycheck because I worked for it. One might be entitled to some benefit because of a contract or law, but no one is entitled to outright theft.

There is a difference. I'm thinking the word is deliberately being tied to this horrific incident for purely political reasons.

Soon we'll be hearing all about how Grandma is a thieving thug, because she applied for Medicaid. If we haven't already.

No, I don't have to think that. A man who walks away from his kids isn't doing it because he knows they'll get food stamps, he does it because he doesn't care what happens to them. He's an asshole. Assholes don't care.
