I feel for the players, coaches and fans. This is a nasty black eye on L.A.
I hope the league gets this racist old man out of the game. He needs to take his profits and go.

Im sorry for all of it and agree the NBA needs to force Sterling to sell and leave.

Totally against what I believe in free market but what else can be done. There is four parties that makes this business work, NBA,Players,Fans,Team Owner.

The least valuable player is the team owner. It just takes someone with money and desire.

Sponsors are bailing on Clippers', State Farm suspends their association and CarMax ends theirs.

Permit me to summarize the info from the Washington Post:

Sterling's donations on record, to Democrats, total $4000. The last one was in 1991. I don't imagine he's still on the mailing list.

BTW, his current registration is Republican.

Wow, this deserves a thread of it's own.

I hope you don't mind if I start one.

Yup, Michael Hiltzik of the LA Times confirmed that the 'Slumlord Billionaire' has been a registered Repub since '98. I'm sure that Hannity and company will be issuing a retraction post haste.

Frankly, I don't think is is necessary to pin any party affiliation on the guy. He appears to be largely apolitical as billionaires go. His $1000 political contributions were the equivalent of one of us dropping five bucks in the Salvation Army Bucket. I would assume that if he were a big GOP donor, some member of the fourth estate would have picked up on that (unless, of course he was donating to a super PAC). He is not a political figure, but just another rich a-hole who thinks he controls everyone around him.

There is clearly no comparison between his situation and Bundy's situation. Sterling denied making the comments, but even if he did make them, they were part of a surreptitiously recorded private conversation. In contrast, Bundy proudly pontificated on his opinions on racial issues - at a press conference. No Democrat has been holding Sterling up as a shining example of Democratic principles. The GOP was slobbering over Bundy's "patriotism."

The right wing's lame attempts at affiliating Sterling's comments with the Democrats are the most blatant example of a false equivalence.

Regards,

D-Ray
