To get back to the point. Polling place fraud is so rare that it fails to satisfy any reasonable person's criteria for "problem". And let's just say, for the sake of discussion that it might not generate the disenfranchisement of millions of voters...if it disenfranchises 100,000 voters, the cure is worse than the problem.

I was registered already and when I show up I give my name. But to register I have to prove who I am. No one should just be allowed to walk in and vote without proof of who you are.

1. You register by filling out a form giving your name and address.
2. Notification is sent to the address you give, telling you where to go vote.
3. Because you live at the address you gave, you get this notification, and show up at the right poll.
4. The poll workers ask you your name and address.
5. You give your name and address, which you know.
6. Since what you say matches what is in the poll book, which came from the form you sent in earlier, you get to vote.

This basic system requires a minimum of administrative effort, and has worked fine for generations. There has never been widespread registration fraud, because it requires too much work to get one vote at a time. You'd never tip an election that way.

Messing with the counting system is where fraud happens, when it happens.
