Nice to see a little common sense settling in on the diplomatic front. The status quo of dealing with Iran for the last 35 years ain't worked that well.

In one sense, it has. It certainly put a crimp in Iran's ability to export its own brand of theocracy. However, that was never going to last forever, and hasn't worked at all in the last 10 years.

I did notice, however, that it didn't take long after the agreement was reached for Iran to start poking the West in the eye. Looks like they've learned quite a bit from their friends in North Korea.

I thought it was the Repubs hero president, Eisenhower who had the Shah installed on the Peacock throne after greenlighting the assassination of their elected leader.

What really pissed off the locals in Iran is when the peanut farmer gave the Shah clearance to enter the US for medical treatment. Following the Iranian revolution, relations with Iran were actually starting to move in a positive direction over the course of early to mid 1979 - stable, if not reciprocally beneficial. Then, when Carter announced the Shah would be welcome in the US, that's when all hell broke loose in Tehran.

No it wasn't. No level of support could have saved that dynasty, except on the Assad model....

Eisenhower would be thrown out of today's Republican Party as a RINO.

Unfortunately the minority party here and Bebe Netanyahu can only see this as capitulation. It must be something in their tea.
