I see some GOP genius has proposed their alternate to Obanacare, they will give people who buy their own health insurance a tax deduction. That should work out just great for the seniors on SS who don't make enough to pay taxes. What a maroon, designed for their nasters in the 1% no doubt.

Ahh, twas but the folly of youth. A lot of good people were fooled by that folksey old snitch. When he was put in the OO by nefarious back door dealings I seriously wished to immigrate but Sweden was too cold even if my Svenska flicka girlfriend was hot. Shoulda found an Aussie gal...

That happened in part because of the surge in unemployment, particularly among younger adults, and in part because the government waived the requirement that such recipients lose their benefits after three months unless they work at least 20 hours a week or attend a training program.
The House proposal would reinstate that cutoff, on the dubious theory that the availability of a few dollars in food aid per day is enough to persuade people not to work. The only research offered in support is from an economist who argues that extended unemployment benefits and other safety-net programs exacerbated the downturn."
I'm aghast that the lazy moochers aren't happy with a super sized Happy Meal per diem.

They are doing grave damage to the country while Rome is burning.
Sorry if I still snicker now and then.

Republicans Taking It To The Streets With Farm Bill
for themselves of course
http://nymag.com/daily/intelligencer...he-hungry.html
I will quote one paragraph about a GOPer who does not seem upset about government aid for Congressmen, including himself:
CNN reported last night that Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas, a Republican supporter of the bill, received a daily meal allowance of $127.41, or 91 times the average daily food-stamp benefit. Lucas is also notable as a recipient of the agriculture subsidies his committee doles out: He and his wife have collected more than $40,000 worth.
that per diem for those globe trotting Congressmen must be pretty sweet....
I guess they can not find it in their hearts to continue SNAP at current levels for some reason
