Just wait for the mid terms, bro. Those dems who voted against background checks are dead meat to the voters. In addition, this is shaping up to be a reverse of the Teabagger victory in 2010 for the Republicant pigs at the trough.

One of the Tres Amigos, Kelly Ayotte had some Town Meetings back home and found that her constituents were not happy with her vote on background checks.

Miz Kelly has suffered a 15% drop in the polls as a result of her vote. Portman lost 18%. Maybe being on the wrong side of 91% of the voters isn't such a great place to be for a bribed up representative, these days.

I also don't think we are ever going to even come close to paying down debt unless the wealthy and corporations pay more taxes. I guess that isn't very conservative.

Either way I think we are just buying time and treading water. Governments rarely shrink, they usually just fail.

I thought you were talking on the Gov't level. On the personal level it would be very hard for me to know if you are a fiscal conservative. We'd also have to agree on what that means on the micro level.

Firearms and Immigration are social issues. Though, I'd be interested to hear your take on being conservative on guns and immigration.

That is the problem.....no one understands that governments exist to spend money to perform things that private individuals do not do themselves. I hate to say this but all those assholes preaching austerity and warning how we are going to be like Greece are government workers who will most assuredly take their government retirements and public option health care, just like myself and some others on this board.

I can tell some people here (obviously not Rex) still do not know the difference between macro and micro economics. Some of the posters are those same people who probably do not want to pay local school tax levies because they do not have kids or they have graduated already.
I can tell you one thing ....in this right to work world the boss ain't gonna take care of you ....if you cannot see that right now then you are in for a big shock. Well at least Medicare may be around to when your old and gray so we might have that going for us.
Technically speaking the British government is close to a thousand years old, if you accept it as an evolutionary process that began with Magna Carta in 1215 and see the modern Parliamentary democracy as its offspring. By no means perfect, representative democracy has existed here in some from for 400 years, and can be seen as the concurrent sibling (or offspring ) of British democracy. We ain't going nowhere.

If I am not mistaken, the national government establishes the right to own guns.

There is the problem. I believe right to protect oneself came long before there was any form of government. The government merely recognizes that right.

And that is why Madison came up with the 2nd - so that the southern slave owners could protect themselves in case of a rebellion by those slaves.
