I'm sure that another shooting will happen. There has already been more than one since Sandy Hook. Maybe, if there are limits on magazine size, there will be fewer injuries. Maybe if the mental health issues get more attention, there will be some instances intercepted before they happen. It's hard to measure a negative, so we might never know how many instances are prevented by protective measures. If we hold out for a perfect remedy, nothing will happen. If we work to make progress, perhaps a few people will be spared.

Regards,

D-Ray

Everything except hunting rifles and shotguns.

Maybe do what the NRA wants and put a cop in every school, you know, like Columbine had.

Oh, and maybe ask the teabaggers how to fund these cops?

I would say, ask Obama about that

So John, the slippery slope is real?

Probably not. That being said, I think it definitely should be but with the line drawn at confiscating the kinds of weapons and "accessories" for which the assault weapons ban will outlaw future sales. In fact, I'd rather not wait to see whether we end up being "safe" from the fucked up weaponry already out there in the hands of fucked up people.

John, with a little practice you can load a regular capacity clip into the gun before the empty hits the ground on quite a few 'normal' guns.

D, so you think when this happens again, there will be no new legislation, assuming the current batch passes?

The DNA mapping and pat downs are hardly discussed at all, although the former is promising and the latter actually worked.

So once you've mapped out the DNA and you know everyone with a predisposition to go apeshit, what do you do with them? How do you keep them from harming people?
Are we going to lock 'em all up, or euthanize them, or what?

I don't like the idea but they are indeed seeing... patterns.. in serial killers brains. This may expand to other problems.

Not to say throw folks in jail for what they haven't done, but it could at least be a flag for further testing or stury etc.

You guys are so predictable. It's always the end game of totalitarianism. Boo hoo, since those spooky liberals want to limit access to guns by crazy people and save a few lives? We will have deathcamps and the Black Stalinists raping our wimmen and enslaving our children? Don't you ever tire of these crazy fantasies? How many more gun murders are you OK with?
