That's why it's so unfair to let black people have guns.

Not compared to the rest of the "civilized" world.

Top ten safest countries:

1) Iceland (Same as 2011)

2) New Zealand (Same as 2011; now tied with Denmark)

2) Denmark (↑ from 4)

4) Canada (↑ from 8)

5) Japan (↓ from 3)

6) Austria (Same as 2011; now tied with Ireland)

6) Ireland (↑ from 11)

8) Slovenia (↑ from 10)

9) Finland (↓ from 7)

10) Switzerland (↑ from 16)

Where is the US? 88.

If guns meant safety, the US should be the safest country in the world.

I suspect if you pull out the bad neighborhoods (Cleveland's on a murder spree this year) you'd find MOST Americans live in almost total safety.

Ice, agreed, but any gun would've been better than no gun.

Pete, if you think about it an aluminium baseball bat may have been more useful...or a pair of car keys jammed into an eye...

Ice I completely disagree. Nothing says get out like a pump shotgun.

But the whole world has bad neighborhoods too. There is just a pervasive love of violence in American society.

Maybe.....
In the case of the old lady, it is more likely that the bad guy would (easily) take her gun away from her and use it on her.

If you can't pull the trigger agreed, all bets are off.
