Unfortunately it is a regullated free enterprise and therin lies its real problem. The local Flicker & Flash installed an investment banker as CEO. He invested all the profits instead of fixing the outside plant. He lost his shirt along with the profits and now they are asking the PSC for a rate increase to cover all the storm damage from the recent tornados. No management not mis-management.

If the mandate is declared unconstitutional at the Federal Level, I believe the citizens of Massuchusetts would not be required to purchase health insurance.....it would be the supreme law of the land. Right? Or am I wrong?

There are some things that the Federal government isn't allowed to do. This is entirely seperate from their power to say prevent slavery.

The States agreed to cede certain rights to the Feds, military, foreign policy, interstate trade among them. The rest is up to the States. One thing that may help, a 'State' is a sovereign thing - a nation you could say. Our country is a group of nations! Theoretically.

I know you are from Cleveland and a pretty decent guy but your post is the best explanation of why we all need the 14th Ammendment.

'We the people' decide what 'rights' we have, and what 'rights' the government has. Funny how it used to be common knowledge in this country anyway that the people are the only legitimate repository of sovreignity. Anything else is tyranny.

Ever wonder why the President swears an oath to uphold the Constitution, not the people?

Is there anyone left on the left that believes people can govern themselves?

We not only believe it, we wish to practice self governance, but the demented right wingnuts keep insisting that corporations are people and wish to make us their slaves.
