The PEGIDA seem to be part of, or influenced, by the broader far right German Identity Movement. These groups seem to be popping up all over Europe and even enjoying electoral success. We have our Tea Party, of course, but at least so far, they haven't exhibited the militancy of Jobbik in Hungary, the Romanian Noua Dreaptă or the Banderist Right Sector in Ukraine.
Weirdly, members of the "1%" biker gangs in Germany and other countries are taking direct action. There's a growing number who have traveled to Syria and the Kurdistan Region to take on Daesh directly.

The situation is dangerous. We have a new party, the ultra right Alternative Für Deutschland (AFD) which sympathizes with Pegida. The incident in Paris brings AFD and Pegida even closer together. A lot of Germans are disappointed by the Classical German conservative Party CDU with Angela Merkel, this party indeed shifted a bit into the left liberal corner in the last years so there is hardly a difference now between the classical left party SPD and the CDU.
Ultra right wing popularity is not only a German or US phenomenon, we can see such developments also in other countries like France with it's successful Front Nationale.
The Islam is global serious issue because it is so deeply involved into the Islamism. It is sad that so many reasonable Moslems suffer from this development.
