I did the AV thing for a while before returning to stereo.
After playing with the various settings I ended up on 5.1 discrete. I'm back to 2.0 (my tv/bluray is a source in my main stereo, I use it for movies too). I think 2.0 is best for 2.0 output music. But for movies I don't think you can replace the rear speakers as a point source and subs for explosions. Pete
