Passed on some Bose 301s that were $65..(half-off)...no tweeter covers. Did not want any more speakers.

On top of them was a Monoprice HDMI splitter two outputs four inputs I got for $1.95.

But the 301 are nice sounding ones, at least the first series.

The Cramps
Fiends Of Dope Island LP Sealed.....Red Vinyl from 2003. Ok those are indications of a collector's desire so I picked it up for $.80.

On a more erudite level not as collectible but infinitely more intellectually and culturally valuable (if you like a 3000 page fictional autobiographies of a young man who grew up in the France of the 1890s and visited all the fashionable salons of the Faubourg Saint Germain) Marcel Proust's Things Of Remembrance Past Random House Two Volume edition. Old and musty. But I love 19th Century Ballrooms and Salons.

He was only 51 when he died of some sort of lung infection in 1922....he could not leave his Paris apartment because of asthma and wrote the book at night and slept in the day. The Scottish author who translated him CK Moncreiff was a wounded veteran of WWI who died at the young age of 40 before even finishing the task. I am currently reading a more modern translation that was published by Penguin in 2004 which does not have the same cache as the older Moncrieff but is an easier read and much more modern sounding. This may be the best thing I have ever read outside of War and Peace.

Next year I will try Moby Dick and then set my sights on Count Of Monte Cristo. Thanks to your avatar (or id) I will have to try Cervantes too sometime in the next few years.

When I say best it is not because it is the greatest plot (it does not have one really) or really that interesting so to speak....it is that I cannot stop reading it...it is like I have to read it. I do 20 pages a day I may be done in early 2015.

sorry to bore you all!

'Have to read it' is what one hears from those who've actually read it. I haven't, but I've avoided giving myself a fair chance to be addicted.

I recently got addicted to the Sopranos. We're almost through them now.

Lux Interior and Poison Ivy...yikes!!!

Any other fans of "Urgh, A Music War" hereabouts? I have a copy on VHS that I dubbed from a Blockbuster's rental. The quality sucks, but I still enjoy it immensely. It's a great piece, documenting pretty much the full range of new music in those days.
