This is the body cam video. Nothing of interest until 3:09, when the officer first calls in that he's making a traffic stop. Gunshot comes at 5:57, after the officer has reached into the car and the subject responded by putting the vehicle in motion.
Obviously, a missing front license plate or even driving without a license do not justify apprehending the subject with deadly force. The question is, was the officer's life imperiled by the subject's resistance and moving of the car? Was deadly force a reasonable and legal response to subject's resistance?
I understand that a moving vehicle
could imperil the officer's life, but did it in this case? And even if so, was deadly force the only effective response available?
